Each Zip Has Its Own Computer
Zips sign in to websites and use them on their own computers and browsers, so your phone stays yours. With your okay, they can work on your Mac too.
Zero is a personal assistant with a small team of helpers called Zips. Give Zero a task, and the right Zip gets it done and comes back with the finished work.
iPhone preview through TestFlight. Mac app, signed by Apple.
Demo: you ask Zero to email Jordan about the lease. Zero hands the job to a Zip called Home, which writes the email and shows you a card with a Send button. After you tap Send, Home confirms the email went out.
Run Zero on your own Mac or home computer with the ChatGPT or Claude plan you already have, and read every line of its code. Hosted plans, for people who would rather not run anything, open later.
Ask in plain words, the way you would ask a friend who is good with details. Zero keeps track of what every Zip is doing, so you only ever talk to one place.
You can ask for several things at once. Each Zip takes its own job, and they all work at the same time.
Zips sign in to websites and use them on their own computers and browsers, so your phone stays yours. With your okay, they can work on your Mac too.
When something needs a decision, Zero asks one short question with answers you can tap.
Set up a routine once, like a look at the week ahead every Monday, and the Zip runs it on schedule.
Sign in with Google, and your Zips can see what lands in your inbox and what is on your schedule.
Keeps track of what you owe. Bills reads bill emails in your Gmail, tells you what is due and when, and asks before it pays anything.
Finds time for the people you see. Calendar reads your Google Calendar, suggests times that work, and drafts the invite for you to send.
Keeps up with class. School tracks quizzes and due dates and helps you plan the night before.
Stays on top of client email. Clients spots replies that need you and drafts answers you can send with one tap.
Checks your accounts for you. Money signs in to your bank on its own browser. Sites that involve money always ask you first.
Plans the details of a trip. Trips compares hotels and flights on its own browser and brings back a short list.
You can make a Zip for any job you want to hand off.
You decide, and Zips do the work.
Before a Zip sends a message, spends money or deletes something, it shows you a card with the details and waits for your tap.
When a Zip wants to sign in to a site that involves money, health or account settings, it asks you every time.
Open any Zip’s computer to see what it is doing, and take over whenever you want.
Zero is on your iPhone and your Mac. Type a message, say it out loud, or call Zero and talk it through.

Zero is easiest to set up with the AI assistant you already pay for. Pick the computer Zero should live on, copy the prompt, then open ChatGPT or Claude and paste it.
I want to set up Zero, a personal assistant app for Mac and iPhone (https://heyzero.app). I am not technical, so please walk me through it one step at a time. Keep each message short, tell me exactly what to click, and wait for me to say I am done before the next step. If something looks different from what you describe, ask me what I see.
Zero will live on a Mac at home that stays on, like a Mac mini, and I will use it from my iPhone and my other Mac.
First, help me check that I have what Zero needs: a Mac to leave on at home with Apple silicon (M1 or newer) on macOS 14 or later, and a Claude Pro or Max plan or a ChatGPT Plus or Pro plan.
These are the steps:
1. On my iPhone, install Apple's TestFlight app from the App Store, then open https://heyzero.app/testflight on the iPhone and install Zero.
2. On the Mac that stays on, go to https://heyzero.app/download to download Zero for Mac.
3. Open the Zero file in my Downloads folder. In the window that appears, drag Zero onto the Applications folder.
4. Open Zero from the Applications folder. If it offers to move itself to Applications, I click Move to Applications.
5. Click Set Up Zero on This Mac and wait a few minutes.
6. Click Sign In With Claude or Sign In With ChatGPT, whichever plan I have, and sign in on the page that opens in my browser. Zero continues by itself after that.
7. Answer Zero's short welcome questions on the Mac.
8. When the Mac shows a code, I point my iPhone's Camera at it and tap the link. Zero opens on my iPhone with the code filled in, and I tap Connect.
9. Keep this Mac ready: in System Settings, open Energy (called Energy Saver on older Macs) and turn on the option that keeps the Mac from sleeping when the display is off, and the option to start up after a power failure if it is there. On a MacBook, these are under Battery, then Options. Then open Users & Groups and set Automatically log in as to my account, so Zero starts again after a restart. If my Mac does not offer that, I log in after each restart.
10. For my other Mac: on the Mac that stays on, open Zero's Settings with the round button showing my initials at the bottom left of the window (or press Command and comma), click Pair a Phone or Mac, then click Send the Link and send it to my other Mac with AirDrop or Messages. On the other Mac, download Zero, drag it to Applications and open it, but do not click Set Up Zero on This Mac. Then open the link I sent and click Connect. If the link is not clickable, I copy it, click Connect to Another Home if Zero shows it, then Sign In With a Pairing Code, then Paste Link.
If a Mac asks whether to accept incoming network connections, I click Allow, even if it names python instead of Zero. My iPhone and my other Mac reach Zero when they are on the same Wi-Fi as the Mac that stays on. If the code expires, I click Make a New Code, or open Settings again and click Pair a Phone or Mac.I want to set up Zero, a personal assistant app for Mac and iPhone (https://heyzero.app). Zero will live on a Linux computer at home that stays on. I will run one command in its terminal, and you will help me answer what it asks. The full guide is at https://github.com/ColinKOB/zero/blob/main/docs/install-server.md.
First, help me check that I have what Zero needs: a computer running Ubuntu 24.04 or another Debian-like Linux, with at least 8 GB of memory and 20 GB of free disk space; a user account on it that can use sudo; and a Claude Pro or Max plan or a ChatGPT Plus or Pro plan.
These are the steps:
1. On my iPhone, install Apple's TestFlight app from the App Store, then open https://heyzero.app/testflight on the iPhone and install Zero.
2. On the Linux computer, log in as myself and open a terminal.
3. Run this command: curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ColinKOB/zero/main/install.sh | bash
4. Type my password when it asks, then wait a few minutes until it asks my name, my time zone and whether to use Tailscale. Tailscale lets me use Zero away from home with my own free Tailscale account. If I say yes, I open the sign-in link it shows, turn on HTTPS for my tailnet if it asks, and install the Tailscale app on my iPhone and sign in with the same account.
5. Wait while it works, which takes 10 to 20 minutes, and stay nearby: near the end it asks which AI plan to sign in to. I open the link it shows on any device and sign in. For Claude, I paste the code from the page back into the terminal. For ChatGPT, I type the code from the terminal into the page; if the page says device code sign-in is off, I turn on device code login in ChatGPT's Settings, under Security, and try again. Then it shows a QR code.
6. Point my iPhone's Camera at the QR code and tap the link. Zero opens on my iPhone with the code filled in, and I tap Connect.
If the code expires, I run bash ~/.local/share/zero/install.sh pair in the terminal for a new one.
The prompt is copied. Paste it into the new chat.
